A series of Android applications are having continuous crashes globally, what is the cause?

According to some reports from global Android users, the applications they are using suddenly have a series of crashes for unknown reasons, affecting several smartphone models: Samsung, Pixel, Motorola, One Plus, etc. In particular, Samsung models such as Galaxy S20, S21, Note 20, A50 and A70 series have been reported by a large number of users to Samsung's subreddit page about this error.

Google recently concluded: “We have discovered an issue with WebView that is causing some Android apps to crash. We are currently determining the scope of the impact and a fix will be released soon.”

Some users have reported that removing the latest update of WebView from the system helps fix this issue. This is also the instruction from Samsung in the US, to help their users temporarily fix the problem.

    Temporary fix:

Go to the Settings menu on your phone. Go to Apps & Notifications, then Android System Webview (if you don't see it, tap the 3 dots in the upper right and select show system apps).

Tap on Android System Webview, tap on the menu on the top right and select Uninstall updates. This will not completely remove System Webview, but will remove the latest update. Finally, tap Ok to confirm.

If your device encounters a similar situation, follow the steps that SiliconZ has shared below, however, while using, Play Store may automatically update the application without prior notice. If you continue to encounter the above error, you can repeat the steps that SiliconZ has instructed.
